Fab Find Friday: Nasty Gal sale

Up to 70% off; it's one of my favorite things to hear (especially when I actually have the money to indulge, lol).  What's even better, is stumbling across these sales finds in places you're least likely to look.  I don't typically shop at Nasty Gal, but I found this AH-MAZING trumpet skirt, so of course I had to look through the rest of the sale.

Curls for Days

Guys I'm so proud of how these curls turned out today!  Practice really does make perfect; but so does a little experimenting.  Later today I'm heading to a friend's housewarming party, and on a whim, decided to curl my hair.  Usually I stray away from applying heat to my hair, but since I don't use heat much I didn't mind doing it today.

I'm still pretty new to curling my hair, so it's definitely a work in progress.  Whenever you're learning something new, there's always room for experimenting--even if they were unintentional (those are usually the best)!  When I was curling my hair as I usually do, I finished and realized that I needed to re-curl a piece of hair.  So I just brushed out the piece and lo-and-behold: a beautifully soft curl--it was perfect!  From there I went back and gently brushed out each curl, to make the originally more tight and structured curls, into more natural-looking curls (which also happen to be my favorite)!  It's a happy accident because I've been trying for forever to achieve more natural looking curls, but didn't really know how to do it.  Funny how things always work out like that, huh?  :)

Check out my post here for the amazing tutorial I used to learn how to curl my hair.

P.S.  This awesome "RAD" tee is from Old Navy, and the GAP sweater is a recent thrift find from Savers!  :)

Aztec Secret Clay Mask

Tonight my sister (and new photographer, lol) and I tried out a clay mask that I had picked up the other day. It's called Aztec Secret.

Let me just say, that when they say deep cleaning, they really do mean deep.  The best part?  It's only $6.99 for a big ol' jar of it, and you only need two spoonfuls to make a generously portioned mask!  For the price it's a steal, because you only use it once a week and it'll definitely last you a long time.

I used 2 spoonfuls of clay powder to two spoonfuls of apple cider vinegar (plus a few drops of tea tree oil).  Also, use a small tupperware bowl (don't use metal!); it's easy to clean and no one will mind you using it to mix your clay mask in.

Lots of mixing!

If the mask is a little too dry after you mix it, add a bit more apple cider vinegar (it's good for your skin!), or some water.

When you apply the mask, you want to put it on nice and thick (the package suggests around 1/2 inch of clay!).

After a couple of minutes you can start to feel a cool, tingly sensation in your face.

Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes (I kept mine on for the max amount for the deepest cleaning--my pores thanked me).

I felt like a witch with all the green lumpy clay on my face!

Most of it washes off super easy with warm water.  The stubborn remains you can easily wipe off with a damp face cloth.

Seriously my pores look so good!  I can't believe how clean they got; they're practically invisible!

I feel so squeaky clean!  :)

I would definitely recommend this mask.  It's cheap, and does an awesome job (you can't get any better than that)!  This is the best face mask you can get without going to a spa (and a fraction of the cost), so it's definitely beyond worth the $6.99 it costs.

Have you tried any face masks that you love?

Leopard and Fringe + WIWW Link Up

It's Wednesday and that means it's "What I Wore Wednesday Link Up"!  Today I shot my first blogger photos with the help of my talented little sister (thank goodness she has a degree in art and was totally up for helping me out); and good lord it was cold out!

And, because I'm new to the blogging game, I didn't really have anywhere to shoot (and the backyard isn't very spectacular in winter, when everything is dead, ugh), but I had a great time hanging out with my sister.  I'm a little intimidated about doing more shoots, but I'm excited at the same time to keep trying and learning what does and doesn't work!

Top: Ann Taylor find from a few months ago (LOVE the faux-leather sleeves!)
Skirt: Ombre Fringe skirt // Ann Taylor

Fossil Finds

Ever find a piece you love and wear so much that you simply have to recommend it to everyone?  My Fossil watches are just that; they're my everyday go-to (I interchange them according to my mood).  I received my first and second as birthday gifts from my parents and my best friend a while back; and I never really wore watches until then.  It took me a little while to get used to having something on my wrist, but now I wear one everyday, and when I don't, I feel kind of naked without it.

And then I received my newest Fossil watch, the gold Cecil Multifunction Stainless Steel watch, sent to me by the amazingly kind people of Fossil; and I've worn it every day since it came in the mail!  I've had my watches for a while and they still look like new; these watches can really take a beating.
I've had the two watches on the ends for some time now, and they still look brand new despite everyday wear-- they can really take a beating!

I've compiled a few of my favorite picks that Fossil currently carries.  My favorites typically have a larger face (because sometimes I forget to wear my glasses...oops).  I admit I tend to gravitate more towards more versatile pieces, nothing overly showy, but still with a classic shape and maybe a slight quirk (like the orchid-colored face of one of the watches below).  I like to be able to mix and match my watch with all my accessories and outfits.

Jacqueline Three Hand Date Leather Watch (Dragonfly Blue) //
Cecil Multifunction Stainless Steel and Leather Watch (Gold and Tan)
Cecil Multifunction Stainless Steel Watch (Gold) // Stella Multifunction Resin Watch (Tort with Gold)
Cecil Multifunction Stainless Steel Watch (Orchid) // Georgia Three-Hand Leather Watch (Tan)

I've also included some men's picks because guys can always use a good watch!  The men's watches are sophisticated and grown up without being stuffy-- something the guy in your life will definitely appreciate.

Townsman Automatic // Green-faced aeroflite with leather band

Did you know that Fossil also does clothes and accessories?!  While window shopping watches, I just had to look at their other pieces.  My absolute favorite is their motorcycle jacket in 'raisin' (I love, lovelove the deep reddish-purple of the jacket; it's perfect for a sophisticated pop of color to an all black outfit).  I'm also in love with the Vickery Drawstring Satchel (the smokey blue color is to die for)!  Both are currently on my wish list (cue attempts fill up the piggy bank)!  :)

Seriously, if you've never checked them out before, make sure you stop by Fossil at the mall or online.  They're definitely a can't miss brand with their great quality pieces that are a great investment and addition to your wardrobe!  :)
