Going for the Gold

Fun fact: one of my favorite ways to shop is to thrift!  My sister and I started really bonding as we got older and one of the things we like to do together is to hit thrift shops!  Thrifting is great for any of you fellow fashion thrill seekers who like the rush of finding an awesome bargain.

Plus, what's better than scoring a ton of amazing designer labels for next to nothing?!

Gold Tee: Savers thrift find (check here for one near you!; this similar tee is statement piece for sure!) || Blazer: Old Navy || Ripped Jeans: American Eagle || Sneakers: Puma ||
Bag: Marshalls find (this white CALL IT SPRING similar version is a must have!) ||
Sunnies: Nora NYC (these Steve Madden sunnies have a similar feel!) || Ring set: c/o Rocksbox (use code classicallycaitxoxo for your first month FREE!; similar here) || Watch: c/o Fossil

This golden beauty?  I found it at Savers for only seven bucks!  Can you believe it?

If you haven't gone thrifting ever, Savers is a great place to start, it's not as overwhelming as many places can be.  Everything is super organized and it's much easier to find things than at most places.  But try and go when you have enough time to spare, because once you make your first awesome find, you'll quickly turn into a treasure hunter in there, and time flies fast!

I've found all sorts of goodies shopping at Savers: Kate Spade, J. Crew, and Lily Pulitzer just to name a few!

Even better?  Bring in your gently used donations and receive a coupon!  They always have some sort of coupon when you donate; usually like 10-30% off, or sometimes they have rewards cards that you get stamped each time you go and then it adds up to a coupon---it varies, so make sure to ask when you go in!

Anyone else love a good thrift find?  :D

It's a blazer...it's a cape...!

...it's a blazer cape!

I'm seriously loving all things involving capes: caped dresses and the hybrid, blazer cape...I want them all!

A good blazer cape gives you that cool girl, NYFW going fashionista feel of a jacket just casually thrown over your shoulders, but with zero of the effort.  I don't know about you, but I'm super jealous of those chic as hell bloggers who can pull off that leather jacket over the shoulders, super casual look.  I've tried it myself.  Turns out, it's a lot harder than it looks...and I'll need to practice more, haha.  But the blazer cape makes it super easy to pull off the same look, but allows you to keep the blazer on your shoulders the whole day!

When the weather's kinda yucky and it's just grey and overcast, I love wearing really bright, fun shoes to lift my mood.  Plus it's a total conversation started!  Whenever I wear these metallic oxfords I always get compliments.

I just had to order another!  Check this fuzzy trio from ASOS!) || Striped Shirt: H&M, old (similar here, and only $20!) || Sunnies: aerie || Watch: c/o Fossil

From Happy Hour to 9-5 Chic

Today I took an oldie-but-goodie, faux-leather "going out" top and totally turned it into office chic!

I got this peplum a long time ago (okay, less than six years ago), when I was in college, and from then on it was pretty much only for going out.  But now that I'm out of college, and I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do, and money's tight, I've started to get creative with how I style my clothes and accessories so that I can stretch the wardrobe I have and cut back on buying so many new things.

I paired the peplum with a pair of Old Navy pixie pants (they're extremely comfortable, and totally office worthy; I also own about five pairs, haha) that I've easily worn double what I paid for them, and a plain white button up.  I've come to love layering this simple button up (funny story, this was a hand me down from my little sister--so, hand me up?--but my chest is much bigger than hers, so I can't wear it by itself, so I've taken to layering it with everything!  Check out this Insta, where I layered it with my J. Crew scallop dress--perfect for fall!)

I LOVE my ombré, and this winter, I'm sticking with it... but going in a totally different direction color wise (this gray ombre or this icy blue ombre)!

And the half bun-half down look is easily one of my favorite 'do's.  Depending on how you style your hair (or don't, like I did today #teamnatural), can make your half bun look casual or chic!  Total game changer (and it only takes a few seconds to throw up!).

Berry lips are my favorite for fall (and winter), and I'm in love with this Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in 'Parisian Passion" (what a name!).  It goes on super easy and doesn't dry out your lips at all; and the color is a bold and rich, jewel tone.

But it's still summer, and one of my favorite summer shades is Essie's 'Butler Please'.  It's the epitome of summertime, and looks like a beautiful ocean blue that makes me wanna go hang out on a beach all day!  And these little Ciatè pearls totally step up my already awesome (and DIY'ed--pat pat on the back, lol) mani.

These metallic oxfords from J. Crew (an awesome find from a few months ago), are an awesome nod to the past, but still look fresh and not stuffy.

What do you guys think of making your night pieces, office-ready?  :)

Pink & Palms with a Touch of (Rose) Gold

I'm really starting to dig the mixing of patterns!  So far I've been dipping my toes in, either pairing similar patterns with similar colors or one bold pattern with one subtle pattern.  Regardless, my fashion risk-taking has come a very long way from when I first took an interest in fashion (which honestly wasn't until the end of high school).

My inspiration came from Blaire Eadie (Atlantic Pacific blog, here; don't forget to check out her Insta feed, here!), who has an AMAZING fashion sense.  Seriously, I don't think she's posted an outfit I didn't like!  If there was a way to do it, I'd copy and paste her wardrobe into my own (who do I need to talk to to get this technology happening???).

I really liked playing with patterns and then adding a pop of metallic.  This summer is going to be full of experimenting with mixing patterns, and I can't wait!!
