Pretty in Paradise

Has anyone else tried the ipsy Glam Bag?  For those of you who haven't, the glam bag is a monthly subscription, created by Michelle Phan (make-up tutorial YouTube sensation) that allows you to test out different beauty products.

I've been a subscriber for quite a few months now and I absolutely love it!

For $10 a month ipsy will send you both deluxe samples and full-size beauty products (5 per month, tailored to your preferences (you take a quick beauty quiz when you sign up).  And they come in the cutest make-up bags!  I like to use mine to organize all my things in my bags.

This month's glam bag was themed "Pretty in Paradise".

How cute is this Rebecca Minkoff makeup bag this month?!

Dream Waves Beach Spray by Marc Anthony.  I just used this spray today and it's MAGICAL.  Not only did I have amazing beach waves, but they also last all day.  No joke.  I did my hair before work this morning, then in the late afternoon, threw my hair up and did a 7 mile workout.  When I got home and took my hair out of the ponytail, the beach waves were still intact.  PERFECTLY INTACT!  Pure magic.

Lash Out Mascara by Be A Bombshell

Universal Eyebrow Pencil by OFRA.  Thank goodness for this one, I was almost out.  And this one works great!  It's natural looking and great quality.

for Her by Realtree.  This could definitely be my new scent.  It's not overpowering

Buttergloss by NYX.  It was actually the only one I didn't really enjoy, but then again, I don't like the stickiness of lipgloss.

And if you really love something in your glam bag, ipsy offers amazing discounts on the full size versions of that month's picks!

Warby Parker In-Home Try Ons

I’m in the market for a second pair of glasses.  I love the tortoise shell frames I have now, but a girl needs options.  Enter, Warby Parker.  They have AMAZING (and affordable) frames!  And the best part?  If you don’t live close enough to one of their store locations, they offer in-home try ons and will send frames to you!

How it works: choose 5 pairs of glasses,  get 5 days to try-on.  After five days, ship the frames back, and order your favorite frames!  And did I mention it's free?

So I chose some frames that were different from my current classic frames.  I went for quirky, colorful, something that not a lot of people wear.  (I apologize for the pictures, if you click the links in the captions you'll be able to see the frames right on the website for a better idea!)

Walker in Canton Blue.  I L-O-V-E, LOVE, the bright blue of these frames!  These are definitely at the top of my list!

Ainsworth in Elderberry.  I love the purple and green combo!

Marshall in Rum Cherry.

Finch in Grenadine.

Arthur in Green Spruce.  The green is definitely unique!  Another favorite!!

Don't want to wait?  They also have virtual try on!

And when you purchase a pair of frames, you'll also be doing some good!  Buy A Pair, Give A Pair:  For every pair you purchase, Warby Parker gives a pair to someone in need!

Bows A-Go

I love bows.  Especially in details like a piece of jewelry, as a print, or on shoes.  And definitely on shoes.  I can’t explain why, other than that bows on a pair of heels or flats adds a fun touch to an outfit without being too overbearing.

Bows can be dainty and add a feminine touch to an edgy outfit or they can be bold and bright to add a pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic outfit.

(I also happen to be a girl-on-a-budget, a tight budget, so all these picks are under $100 from Sole Society !)

“Hilary” Pointed Toe Flat
Julianne Hough “Morganne” Slingback Flat (now on sale!)

“Meryl” Pointed Toe Pump (also on sale now!)

“Opal” Bow Slingback (with just enough of a heel)

Navy or Nothing.

Favorite color to wear?  Navy, hands down.  Whether it's a top, a skirt, on my nails or somewhere in my accessories;  whether it's accented with gold, pearls, neon, or being the accent color itself, navy is the perfect neutral in my opinion.  It’s the perfect color for dressing up AND down, any time of the year, and you can pair almost every other color with it (I can't explain it, but I love navy with an orange monogram, it just really POPS!).

And how could you not love navy sailor stripes (or any type of stripes for that matter)?  How could you not love something so versatile?

Some of my favorite navy picks:

My iPhone 5c case from Etsy shop: embellishcases.  I have the tough case, which has a rubber liner and then a plastic hard shell that pops over it.  This case is great for anyone who loves monograms AND happens to be a slight klutz like I am, LOL.  (It's also SUPER AFFORDABLE, compared to some monogrammed phone cases out there, and it looks even better in person!)

C Wonder "Nautical Printed Canvas Tote" (it can even be monogrammed!!)

Vineyard Vines "Anchor Print Eyelet Dress".  I'm in L-O-V-E love with the anchor print and cord belting the waist.

How fun are these pom-pom shorts from SheInside?!  So cute for summer (and on sale now for $14.33)!

Sam & Libby Chelsea Bow flats (only $30!!) from Target, a.k.a. a girl-on-a-budget's favorite place!
