Spring Dusters + Jumpsuits

Sometimes spring is such a weird season, because winter's just ended, but it's not so warm like summer; you can't layer too much or you'll overheat, yet if you don't cover up enough you'll find yourself chilly.  The solution?  A lightweight jacket; make a statement, and keep yourself warm enough to ward off the cool weather, without overdoing it.

My favorite?  The duster, which I first saw on Kim K, and instantly fell in love (see for yourself in this roundup post + today's duster feat. in this post).  Duster jackets are so sleek and sophisticated, easily dressing up a simple piece-- like today's jumpsuit.

Duster: Forever21, old (similar) || Jumpsuit: aerie, old (similar) ||
Bralette: aerie || Booties: Lucky Brand, via Poshmark (similar) ||
Necklace: Forever21 || Sunnies: Wish app || Watch: c/o Fossil ||
Belt: Forever21 (similar) || Bag: J. Crew Factory

I'm loving the pastel-y, steely purple of this duster, it's a pretty pop of color that's not so overwhelming; it's the perfect color to transition into spring with!

Even though this look is like 80% black, it still has a very spring-y feel to it thanks to the details.  The bralette that I've layered with this jumpsuit has a pretty, flower lace; so even though it's all black, there's still a chic nod to spring present.

Add a sparkly statement necklace, with the same colors incorporated from the jacket give the outfit a nice break from the dominantly black color palette.

A black jumpsuit, like today's, is a must-have that can be worn all seasons.  It's a blank canvas on which you can accessorize and style in a zillion different ways; dressed up or down, it's all how you wear it that day!

Another reason why I love staple pieces like a duster jacket, or classic jumpsuit, is that, because you can style it so many different ways, it makes transitioning from season to season that much less stressful.  A few good, classic pieces can be taken from season to season, and have a few special accessories added on to make them seasonally appropriate-- instant chic!

How do you layer up in spring?  :)

Farmer's Daughter

Let me start off by saying that: 1) I am deathly afraid of owning too much white because I am a wee bit klutzy (as a result, I've never owned any white pants, or too many nice white tops), and 2) I always thought overalls would never look good on my body type (I feel like there aren't too many styles of overalls that flatter a curvy body).

As of last week, when I took a quick peek in GAP on my lunch break, I found both those statements to be untrue, because I found the perfect pair of overalls (they are a wee bit pricey, however, GAP is forever having sales, and I scored mine when they were having 40% off!  And they do have sales like that pretty frequently, so keep an eye out!!) that are super duper flattering for any body type (and best of all?  They're not see through!!).

And so, here I am, happily on the bandwagon! hahaha

My favorite part about these overalls is how flattering they are; they are far from dowdy, and have an awesome silhouette!  I can't even tell you how many compliments I got when I wore them!  Totally made my day.

The crisp, clean lines made me feel tall and lean, so these are most definitely a big ol' A+ in my books; and I can't wait to style them more for spring and even in the summer on cooler days!!

Overalls: GAP || Top: aerie || Booties: Old Navy || Watch: c/o Fossil ||
Sunnies: aerie (similar) || Rope bracelet: Dynamite (similar feel) ||
Hat: aerie (this hat is a perfect substitute for the warm weather!) ||
Bag: Marshalls (this Sole Society beauty is has a similar feel)

And by the way, this pretty, pretty blue aerie off the shoulder top is the PERFECT top to style with these overalls!  In fact, when I bought these overalls, this top was the first top that came to my mind when I was thinking about what to pair it with!

Are you on the overall bandwagon yet?  :)

Totes My Spirit Animal

Pic from Buzzfeed, make sure to out the rest, they're hilarious!
LOL...with that being said, Kourt K is hands down my fave Kardashian; my spirit animal if you will. And as I've said before, I love doing dupes of celebrity OOTDs, with pieces from my own closet, and Kourtney Kardashian gives me total OOTD envy; her wardrobe isn't 24/7 outrageous, and a lot of her looks are easily duped because of that.  Recently I went on a pinning spree (follow me @classicallycait!)...as I always do...and I came across this Kardashian look:

pic from OutfitID
I was super excited, because right away I knew this was a look I could re-make because I had all the pieces in my closet already!  Even better?  It's easily remade on a broke girl budget! #highfives

Shirt: aerie || Leather Jacket: H&M (similar) || Jeggings: American Eagle ||
Sneakers: Puma (similar) || Tote: aerie ||
Sunnies: Wish app || Belt: Forever21 || Watch: c/o Fossil

The best part of this outfit is that it's a big impact made up of several basics...aka, pieces that you can re-wear in hundreds of different combos with other pieces in your wardrobe.

For example, every girl needs a good leather jacket.  You can wear it whenever, it goes with everything, and it instantly gives your outfit a wow factor without having to try hard.

Black jeggings/skinny jeans/leggings, every girl has at least one pair in her closet (if not five or six! lol).

Once you break down your fave celeb's look into all the different pieces, it's easy to recreate it as your own and start with pieces that you already own before you start draining the bank trying to copy it piece for piece!

Anyone else on the Kourt K bandwagon?  :)

Pardon My French, but...

...these red bow shoes are hella cute, aren't they?!

Jeans: GAP || Pullover: Old Navy, old (similar feel here, which I also styled here!) ||
Leather Jacket: H&M, old (similar) || Watch: c/o Fossil ||
Bag: c/o Fossil || Sunnies: Wish app ||
Earrings: J. Crew, old (similar) || Heels: Wish app (ROMWE has the same pair, here!)

I'm seriously loving the blogger street style I see up on my Insta feed!  I've been inspired to try out the casual cool-sweatshirt-and-jeans-paired-with-chic-heels look; and I must say, I'm smitten!!

And you'll never guess how much I paid for these super cute heels!!!

SIXTEEN DOLLARS (and that included shipping!)!  That's right, under twenty bucks; meaning all my fellow broke girls rejoice because it's within everyone's budget no matter how tight the pursestrings may be.

If you have patience to work for a good deal then you MUST download the Wish app (it's a free shopping app); it's just like SheIn, ROMWE, RoseGal, but you shop straight from the app.  My advice: read all the reviews and try to only buy pieces that feature customer photos, especially if you're purchasing apparel (I don't get too crazy when it's accessories, because things like sunglasses are only around $3, and that included shipping--just like the one's I'm wearing in this post!)

Anyone else a big fan of the chic street style movement?  :)

Hanging Out

Let me start off by saying, HAPPY SAINT PADDY'S DAY!!  I'm sharing a subtle green OOTD with you guys today!

Fun fact: I'm half Irish...and half Puerto Rican...crazy combo right? hahaha

Location, location, location. You here it all the time, and when it comes to blogging it's so true...but there's always an exception to the rule, isn't there?  Sometimes it's not the location, but how you use your location!

When you're still a newbie blogger like me, you don't always have the luxury of numerous exciting locations to shoot at, so get creative with it!  Drive around town, try and look at certain locations close by at a different angle. You'd be surprised at how many new locations you'll wind up with!

Jumpsuit: aerie (similar) || Bralette: aerie || Fringe Cuff: Dynamite (similar) ||
Fringe Bracelet: Dynamite (similar) || Watch: c/o Fossil || Shoes: Poshmark* (similar, similar) ||
Bag: Marshalls (similar, love this white one for spring/summer!) || Sunnies: Old Navy (similar)

*sign up (for free!) and use code PNXBH to earn a $10 credit towards your first purchase!

So where did I wind up shooting today?  The local playground!!

A boiler suit is the perfect one-piece go-to for spring!  ...and it's great for those days you have no clue what to wear; throw it one, grab your fave sneakers and finish off with a shiny statement necklace!   Easy peasy.  Plus this olive green is a subtle nod to the all green holiday, so you can get your Irish on in style, without worrying about looking like a leprechaun, hahaha.

As you can tell, it's super easy to move around in one of these, because clearly I had much too much fun hanging off of the spider web wall...hahaha!

Have you ever given a location a second chance and turned it into a great spot to shoot?  :)
