Double Time

I don't typically buy bathing suits, like ever; I avoid it at all costs when I can.  I probably only wore a bathing suit like three times last summer.

This year is different though.  I've changed the way I eat (cutting out most junk food; I drink more water and eat more fruits and veggies), exercise more, and I feel much better about myself because of it!  I even bought a few new suits in celebration of my new found confidence! 😁

I just got this aerie one piece, because I loved how I felt when I tried it on; I felt like Khloe Kardashian with her banging new revenge body (it's empowering, everyone should try it)!

And honestly when I saw it, I bought it to wear as a body suit, not even to wear as swim!

Not gonna lie, I felt pretty badass in this outfit; like Sandy at the end of Grease, meets rocker boho (I don't know if rocker boho is a thing, but it is now!).  I love that it's sexy, but it's not overkill; the neckline is modest in the front and then the back and sides are low cut so it's just enough skin!  And the best part?  You can totally take this suit from the beach to the bar (perfect for weekend getaways or vacations)!!

What do you think about making your swim work double time?  :)

Spring Dusters + Jumpsuits

Sometimes spring is such a weird season, because winter's just ended, but it's not so warm like summer; you can't layer too much or you'll overheat, yet if you don't cover up enough you'll find yourself chilly.  The solution?  A lightweight jacket; make a statement, and keep yourself warm enough to ward off the cool weather, without overdoing it.

My favorite?  The duster, which I first saw on Kim K, and instantly fell in love (see for yourself in this roundup post + today's duster feat. in this post).  Duster jackets are so sleek and sophisticated, easily dressing up a simple piece-- like today's jumpsuit.

Duster: Forever21, old (similar) || Jumpsuit: aerie, old (similar) ||
Bralette: aerie || Booties: Lucky Brand, via Poshmark (similar) ||
Necklace: Forever21 || Sunnies: Wish app || Watch: c/o Fossil ||
Belt: Forever21 (similar) || Bag: J. Crew Factory

I'm loving the pastel-y, steely purple of this duster, it's a pretty pop of color that's not so overwhelming; it's the perfect color to transition into spring with!

Even though this look is like 80% black, it still has a very spring-y feel to it thanks to the details.  The bralette that I've layered with this jumpsuit has a pretty, flower lace; so even though it's all black, there's still a chic nod to spring present.

Add a sparkly statement necklace, with the same colors incorporated from the jacket give the outfit a nice break from the dominantly black color palette.

A black jumpsuit, like today's, is a must-have that can be worn all seasons.  It's a blank canvas on which you can accessorize and style in a zillion different ways; dressed up or down, it's all how you wear it that day!

Another reason why I love staple pieces like a duster jacket, or classic jumpsuit, is that, because you can style it so many different ways, it makes transitioning from season to season that much less stressful.  A few good, classic pieces can be taken from season to season, and have a few special accessories added on to make them seasonally appropriate-- instant chic!

Leather Clad Ballerina

It's universally know that Mondays kinda suck, and when it's freezing outside (hello single digits), they suck even more.  So an all black ensemble seems appropriate for such a blah day, right?  Absolutely!  But, even though Mondays are blah, your monochromatic OOTD doesn't need to follow suit!  My favorite way to make an all black (or any color) outfit cool is to play around and mix textures; today I mixed leather (faux, as I'm a fashionista on a budget, haha), knits, and netting, with gold and snakeskin accents for some added interest.

And like I said, it's freezing over here (my car was reading like one degree, *sigh*), so how to mix up those textures?  Layer!  I paired my (faux) leather peplum tank (because I love to preach versatility in a wardrobe; make your clothes go the extra distance outside their made for seasons!), with a ballerina wrap sweater.  Not only does this mix knits and leather, but both pieces paired together give you a bangin' hourglass silhouette (*high fives*); between the sweater that cinches you in at the waist, and then the peplum flaring out from the same point you have created some killer curves whether you were born with them or not--easy peasy.

I've been after a veiled beanie for ages, and I finally found one the other day while I was shopping at H&M...needless to say I am a super duper fan of this classy meets cool accessory!

And how simple and perfect are these Gorjana earrings from my latest Rocksbox?!  These can be worn with pretty much any outfit; sign up for their months subscription box, and use code 'xoxoclassicallycait' to get your first month free!!

I absolutely love an all black outfit with pops of shiny gold; it's so simple, and yet edgy at the same time!  This ring set was also part of this month's Rocksbox, and I loved them so much that I bought them immediately after trying them on and falling in love with them!

And this watch?!  The perfect blend of classic and modern!  I love the mix of gold and silver, and then a clean leather band.

This little crossbody is one of the reasons I love thrifting; only $2, and it's classic style makes it a staple piece!

Totally got caught by my neighbors across the street when I was taking these pictures...haha.

Summer to Winter

Today's one of those "ehhh" days; it's still snowing on the East coast, but I didn't wake up to a "snow day, don't come into work" text (...the worst), which kinda made me feel blah, so I wasn't really trying to put any effort into my outfit.  Luckily, all the pieces I grabbed this morning kinda happened to go together (phew!).

I wore this super twirly cotton kimono, over the summer (see how I styled it in this post!)...that's right, this is from aerie's summer 2015 collection--it's a beach cover up.  What's great about pieces like this, is that you can wear them year 'round, depending whether you layer it over a sweater or a swimsuit!

If you're one of the lucky ducks escaping the cold and heading somewhere warm for winter break, a cotton kimono (like this one from Steve Madden) is the perfect addition to your travel wardrobe.  You can layer it over your sweater for some comfy chic airport style, and then once you've reached your destination, it doubles as a cute beach cover up!  Talk about versatility!

And because cotton kimonos are relatively nice and light, they don't take up a lot of space in your luggage!  Win.

A Ballerina Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Eve guys!!

I have to say, Christmas Eve is actually more exciting for me than Christmas Day, always has been for me. My sister and I are really close to my three cousins and Christmas Eve is the day we've always celebrated together. We have a huge dinner and then play some silly games. Christmas Day is much quieter and relaxing, and the night before is rowdy and filled with lots of laughs (mostly at each other, haha).

This year, I needed an outfit that did double duty since I'm working all day before heading to my aunt's house for our usual holiday celebrations.

How gorgeous is this Perry Street necklace that I got in my Rocksbox this month?!

Desert Princess Chic

I'm not really a sweats kind of a girl (I only have two pairs, and they're both Richie's lol; the only time I ever wear them are to bed, or maybe babysitting); to me, dressed down is jeans and a tee, with a cute pair of flats (or my trusty riding boots if it's fall or winter).  And then I got a second job, at Aerie, and am now surrounded by lounge wear...but it's not all your typical lounge wear.  It's pulled together, so you can look chic and still be comfortable; who doesn't want to wear sweats and sweaters and still look stylish?!

Lounge wear is the perfect solution to transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall!

One of my new faves is a recent Aerie purchase: the wrap front jumpsuit.  I'm in love with the wrap front; it just makes the piece feel a little more chic than a regular jumpsuit (it's all in the details!).

I love jumpsuits.  They're so easy to dress up and down (perfect for travel); and they're the most versatile piece you can have in your closet.  Especially this one!  Since it's lounge wear, you can wear it to bum around (but still looking super cute!), or you can dress it up with a blazer (or this shawl!) for a cool work look, or even a cute pair of heels and statement necklace for a night out (talk about multi-function!)!

I love this look, because on days like this, where I'm working one job and then going straight to the second, I like to be super comfortable to help get through a long day of being at work and extra time in the car.  Nothing makes me crankier than being in an outfit that I have to keep adjusting all day (well, being hungry is really what makes me the crankiest...but style-wise, it's definitely the constant fixing of things here and there with my outfit that'll turn me into a bit of a grouch...oops).

I paired the jumpsuit with this statement piece: the striped shawl.

This shawl has some serious twirl factor, and I'm really digging it; it makes the outfit feel light and floaty. Plus, it's super soft; I felt like I was wrapped in a cozy blanket all day (definitely can't beat that level of comfiness!)!

I'm convinced that the less I spend on my sunnies, the longer they last!  I can't even tell you how long I've had these black cat eyes, but I've never lost or broke them and I probably only spend ten bucks on them at Target!
