Weekend Chic

Yesterday I talked about how at the end of the week, I like to dress down, but still remain chic; however, that feeling usually only lasts one day, lol.  About 98% of the time I prefer to be dressed up, no matter what, but that doesn't mean that I'm uncomfortable.  Since I started really getting into fashion because of my Insta and this blog, I've been able to figure out how to be dressed up without feeling uncomfortable and restricted.

One happy medium is through denim.  Jeans are created in such a wide variety of styles that it's super easy to dress up and down a single pair of jeans without breaking your budget.  I practically live in these American Eagle ripped jeans, because they look expensive, but are perfect, under $60, and are super comfortable.

Blazer Cape: Romwe || Bow Tie top: Banana Republic (similar for $35 here) ||
Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters || Flats: Charlotte Russe, old (similar here) ||
Bag: Marshalls (this BP. bag has a similar vibe!) || Hat: aerie ||
Sunnies: Wish app (free to download the app!; similar here) || Watch: c/o Fossil ||
Bracelet: gorjana; c/o Rocksbox subscription (use code classicallycaitxoxo to get your first month FREE!)

This Romwe blazer cape (see how I styled it with my fave stripe tee, here; it's under $30!) is perfect for a casual chic vibe; the sleeveless, cape gives you the nonchalant blazer-thrown-over-the-shoulder look, without the effort of trying to keep your jacket on your shoulders without it slipping off every two minutes.  Definitely a classic piece that's a must-have for any fashionista's closet!

And paired with this Banana Republic neck-tie top, it's the perfect blend of menswear inspired weekend wear.  AKA: cool girl chic (and yes I've come to realize I use the term "cool girl chic" a lot; but seriously, isn't that what any fashionista strives for?) *high five*.

Skies of Blue

At the end of the week, I'm shot from working 10-11 hour days, so when I get dressed in the morning I want something that's comfy but still chic at the same time.  My solution to that is a pair of classic jeans and a fun sweater that adds interest to an otherwise casual outfit.

Enter the amazing fringe goodness that is one of my latest sales find!  I'm totally in love with this American Eagle fringe sweater (currently on sale for $35!); it's thick, but not heavy...does that make sense? lol.

Cardigan: American Eagle || Tassle Tee: J. Crew, old (this tee has a similar feel, and only $15!) || Watch: c/o Fossil || Sunnies: Wish app (it's free to download! similar sunnies here) ||
Tassel Necklaces: J. Crew, old (similar here, here, and here)  ||
Fringe necklace: Dynamite (similar here and here) || Boyfriend Jeans: GAP ||
Lace Up flats: Charlotte Russe (similar here, and only $30!) ||
Fringe cross body: Marshalls (this BP. bag has a similar vibe!)

The fringe that lines the edge of this cardi has great, subtle movement that takes it from just a sweater to a statement piece!

For a fun monochromatic look, this fringe goodness paired perfectly with my GAP boyfriend jeans!  And a classic white tee with some added white-on-white detailing (in this case, fringe and embroidery), just amps up the interest in this outfit, making it look more stylish and thoughtful, rather than thrown together *high fives*.

And you can never go wrong with a touch of leather and gold.  I've worn this Fossil watch everyday since Fossil sent it to me!  It's so classic and easy-to-wear that I never want to take it off!

How do you stay cozy and chic on the weekends?  :)

Summer to Winter

Today's one of those "ehhh" days; it's still snowing on the East coast, but I didn't wake up to a "snow day, don't come into work" text (...the worst), which kinda made me feel blah, so I wasn't really trying to put any effort into my outfit.  Luckily, all the pieces I grabbed this morning kinda happened to go together (phew!).

I wore this super twirly cotton kimono, over the summer (see how I styled it in this post!)...that's right, this is from aerie's summer 2015 collection--it's a beach cover up.  What's great about pieces like this, is that you can wear them year 'round, depending whether you layer it over a sweater or a swimsuit!

If you're one of the lucky ducks escaping the cold and heading somewhere warm for winter break, a cotton kimono (like this one from Steve Madden) is the perfect addition to your travel wardrobe.  You can layer it over your sweater for some comfy chic airport style, and then once you've reached your destination, it doubles as a cute beach cover up!  Talk about versatility!

And because cotton kimonos are relatively nice and light, they don't take up a lot of space in your luggage!  Win.

It's a blazer...it's a cape...!

...it's a blazer cape!

I'm seriously loving all things involving capes: caped dresses and the hybrid, blazer cape...I want them all!

A good blazer cape gives you that cool girl, NYFW going fashionista feel of a jacket just casually thrown over your shoulders, but with zero of the effort.  I don't know about you, but I'm super jealous of those chic as hell bloggers who can pull off that leather jacket over the shoulders, super casual look.  I've tried it myself.  Turns out, it's a lot harder than it looks...and I'll need to practice more, haha.  But the blazer cape makes it super easy to pull off the same look, but allows you to keep the blazer on your shoulders the whole day!

When the weather's kinda yucky and it's just grey and overcast, I love wearing really bright, fun shoes to lift my mood.  Plus it's a total conversation started!  Whenever I wear these metallic oxfords I always get compliments.

Blazer Cape: SheIn (this one from Nasty Gal is super chic too!) || Oxfords: J. Crew, old (similar here) || Jeggings: American Eagle Outfitters || Bag: Michael Kors (a present from Richie <3) || Pom Pom: Wish app (only $3! I just had to order another!  Check this fuzzy trio from ASOS!) || Striped Shirt: H&M, old (similar here, and only $20!) || Sunnies: aerie || Watch: c/o Fossil

Horsing Around + WIWW

Guys I think I found my power outfit!

My major in college (go Red Dragons!), was history, and I think my love of history has influenced my love for fashion as well.  What I mean is that, some of my pieces are reminiscent of the past, but I like to put a modern twist on it.  For example, I'm really digging the equestrian look for fall (the two go hand-in-hand perfectly!); the aristocratic, old time elegance and style of the equestrian look is the perfect blend of history and fashion!  I don't know why or how, but this look just gives me so much confidence!

I feel so freakin' dapper in this outfit, like I should be at a polo match with a glass of champagne in my hand (and shouldn't every day feel like that? hahaha).

Warning: this blazer causes feelings of awesomeness; you'll be seeing this blazer many more times between now and spring time!

I scored this Ralph Lauren blazer from my favorite vintage shop, Paper Doll Vintage Boutique. They had a huge yard sale going on at the shop, and I happened to find this blazer on one of the back racks while I was waiting for my sister to get out of work (she works nearby); if my sister had come to the store earlier than she did I don't think I would've ever spotted this beauty!  When I did see it, I saw that it was a size 8 and I got a little sad because I'm usually a 10 or 12, but I figured I'd try it anyways (cuz why not???); when I put it on I was more than pleasantly surprised that it fit--and it fit amazingly!!!  I felt so good putting it on, because I didn't think it would fit me (isn't that the worst, finding something you fall in love with and then it doesn't fit?!), but it actually fit like a glove and looked good on me! :D

I wish it was fall all year round, just so I can wear my riding boots every day!

These aviators are the only ones I've ever actually liked on my face... and I've tried on a whole lot!  I found them while I was waiting on line one day at Old Navy (that's how they get you!  ...and I'm a sucker lol), and when I tried them on I'm pretty sure I could hear angels singing.  Anyone else feel that way when you try something on and it's so magically because it feels like it was made just for you?

This pose reminds me of Captain Morgan...but my sister insisted (what the photographer says, goes, lol), haha.

Belt It Out

I'm totally taking a page out of Kim K's book with my recent duster jacket obsession (I already have three...sorrynotsorry); they're the super chic version of a pullover (they're comfy, but polished).

This is definitely one bandwagon you're gonna wanna hop on!  ;)

I have to admit, as much as I love shopping, I hate spending a lot of money on cosmetics; when I splurge on them, it's usually for an Essie polish (because they have the absolute BEST colors!).  It's extremely rare that I spend more than $10 on any one cosmetic (my favorite liquid liner that I've been using for the last ten years only cost about $3, and I swear by it!).  I'd just rather put the extra money towards a nicer piece of clothing instead.

I mixed two different shades to get this dark berry color; together, both lipsticks cost under $10 (L'Oréal 'Raisin Rapture' + NYC Cosmetics 'Mahogany'). You definitely don't need to break the bank to achieve a great berry lip for fall!

It's been so hard to find a pair of these lace up flats for a decent price!  I found this pair on Poshmark and was able to buy them with my earnings from selling pieces from my closet (such a good way to clean out   your closet and get new clothes all at the same time...and it's ridiculously easy!).

If you haven't joined Poshmark, then you need to download the app ASAP!  Use code 'PNXBH' when you sign up and get a $5 credit! :)

Style Inspo: Jessica Alba

There's always a few days where I find myself in a style rut.  I look into my closet and in my dresser and I can't seem to find anything I like enough to put together into an outfit, #strugs.  One of my favorite ways to get some style inspirations is looking to celebrities.  Jessica Alba is definitely one of of my favorite celebrities to look to for fashion inspiration.  What I love about her style is that, like Kate Middleton and Emma Watson (two of my other favorite style inspirations), her style is so accessible because it's easily duplicated on a broke girl budget!

Sometimes being able to duplicate a celebrity look (or even something close to it), makes me love my outfit even more that day, because I was able to create a similar for hundreds of dollars less!

Seriously, casual yet fancy and chic at it's finest.  Classic LBD, paired with this uh-mazing bomber jacket and black pumps.

I need this entire outfit in my closet, stat.  I've really been digging these flared jeans lately, and have been keeping my eyes peeled for a pair flattering to my shape because I just love them!  Plus, jeans and a white tee combo?  Check and check.

Pic. from Daily Mail
I am an absolute sucker for a good blazer; so much so that I may actually have a problem (totally picked one up last weekend at the J. Crew Factory store...#sorrynotsorry!).  Like the flared jeans, I'm also loving long blazers (with and without sleeves...although I guess that would make them vest...so I guess long vests are also on my list!  lol), and have been searching for one to rock myself.

Seriously though, how can one person be so perfectly and effortlessly chic?!  If I could just copy and paste her wardrobe into my own, I'd be such a happy camper.

Tough Girl, Pretty Girl + WIWW

Today was just an overall good day. I felt super productive AND both my hair and OOTD were on point; can a girl ask for more?  I didn't really have much to do (really I just had to get my eyes checked out and re-take my passport picture), but even when I cross off the few things on a short to-do list, I still feel kinda accomplished.  I think it was mostly because I felt so good about how I looked today, that I just came up with errands to do so I could show off my outfit, lol.

I totally felt pretty, and, a little badass today; AKA, the perfect combination for getting sh*t done!  I feel like looking good and feeling good makes me more productive; I got it all done and ordered some new frames (...in red; which I'm super excited to share with you guys!)!  I feel like I totally rocked today.

Jeans are usually hit or miss for me, but GAP  has some killer jeans, that fit in all the right places, and don't make me look frumpy.  And their boyfriend jeans are my absolute fave.  These ripped pair are totally bad girl chic, and they're insanely comfy!

As always, I'm rocking my power bag, the Michael Kors Selma bag (in navy blue, because #navyornothing!), that Richie got me last year.

Last year my sister and I discovered, Paper Doll Vintage Boutique, a local vintage store on Long Island (if you can't make it out to the Island, definitely give their Etsy shop a look!).  They have the best accessories to add a little vintage glam to your outfits.

While I was out at the eye doctor, one of the women working there actually made my day and told me that I inspired her outfit for a concert she was going to tonight!  Hearing things like that are total confidence boosters, and it made me love my outfit even more!

Clearly it's no secret I now love posing with my sister's (who also happens to be my photographer!) bright red car.  While I love my 2015 Chevy Equinox (AKA, Viv; named by my sister), Rachel's car just provided a more retro and edgier backdrop.  Plus, the bright red is the best pop of color for pretty much any photoshoot.

recently collaborated with Sakeenah over at BroBandz to share these earrings with you guys.  And just like their name, these are most certainly, "Not Your Grandma's Pearl Earrings"!  These earrings are the definition of tough girl, pretty girl chic!  Pearls in the front= classy, pretty girl; spikes in the back= edgy, tough girl.

I love the feeling of classic pearls (and I loooove me some pearls), and then BAM! silver spikes in the back add some tough girl flair.  Definitely the perfect pair of studs for taking on the day and crossing things off your to-do list!

And one of the best parts?  10% of the profits go towards Meals on Wheels and More chapter in Austin, TX.  I'm all about fashion for a cause, so for sure, check out BroBandz and help Sakeenah support Meals on Wheels and More!  <3

P.S.  This Turquoise Beaded necklace is too cute; and perfect for layering!
