Weekend Chic

Yesterday I talked about how at the end of the week, I like to dress down, but still remain chic; however, that feeling usually only lasts one day, lol.  About 98% of the time I prefer to be dressed up, no matter what, but that doesn't mean that I'm uncomfortable.  Since I started really getting into fashion because of my Insta and this blog, I've been able to figure out how to be dressed up without feeling uncomfortable and restricted.

One happy medium is through denim.  Jeans are created in such a wide variety of styles that it's super easy to dress up and down a single pair of jeans without breaking your budget.  I practically live in these American Eagle ripped jeans, because they look expensive, but are perfect, under $60, and are super comfortable.

Blazer Cape: Romwe || Bow Tie top: Banana Republic (similar for $35 here) ||
Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters || Flats: Charlotte Russe, old (similar here) ||
Bag: Marshalls (this BP. bag has a similar vibe!) || Hat: aerie ||
Sunnies: Wish app (free to download the app!; similar here) || Watch: c/o Fossil ||
Bracelet: gorjana; c/o Rocksbox subscription (use code classicallycaitxoxo to get your first month FREE!)

This Romwe blazer cape (see how I styled it with my fave stripe tee, here; it's under $30!) is perfect for a casual chic vibe; the sleeveless, cape gives you the nonchalant blazer-thrown-over-the-shoulder look, without the effort of trying to keep your jacket on your shoulders without it slipping off every two minutes.  Definitely a classic piece that's a must-have for any fashionista's closet!

And paired with this Banana Republic neck-tie top, it's the perfect blend of menswear inspired weekend wear.  AKA: cool girl chic (and yes I've come to realize I use the term "cool girl chic" a lot; but seriously, isn't that what any fashionista strives for?) *high five*.

What's your favorite way to dress up your weekend wear? :)

Skies of Blue

At the end of the week, I'm shot from working 10-11 hour days, so when I get dressed in the morning I want something that's comfy but still chic at the same time.  My solution to that is a pair of classic jeans and a fun sweater that adds interest to an otherwise casual outfit.

Enter the amazing fringe goodness that is one of my latest sales find!  I'm totally in love with this American Eagle fringe sweater (currently on sale for $35!); it's thick, but not heavy...does that make sense? lol.

Cardigan: American Eagle || Tassle Tee: J. Crew, old (this tee has a similar feel, and only $15!) || Watch: c/o Fossil || Sunnies: Wish app (it's free to download! similar sunnies here) ||
Tassel Necklaces: J. Crew, old (similar here, here, and here)  ||
Fringe necklace: Dynamite (similar here and here) || Boyfriend Jeans: GAP ||
Lace Up flats: Charlotte Russe (similar here, and only $30!) ||
Fringe cross body: Marshalls (this BP. bag has a similar vibe!)

The fringe that lines the edge of this cardi has great, subtle movement that takes it from just a sweater to a statement piece!

For a fun monochromatic look, this fringe goodness paired perfectly with my GAP boyfriend jeans!  And a classic white tee with some added white-on-white detailing (in this case, fringe and embroidery), just amps up the interest in this outfit, making it look more stylish and thoughtful, rather than thrown together *high fives*.

And you can never go wrong with a touch of leather and gold.  I've worn this Fossil watch everyday since Fossil sent it to me!  It's so classic and easy-to-wear that I never want to take it off!

How do you stay cozy and chic on the weekends?  :)

Buffalo Check, Check!

Buffalo Check shirt: Zara, via Poshmark (similar here, only $16!) ||
White Button Down: gift (similar here) || Hat: aerie, similar aerie hat here ||
Ring set: c/o Rocksbox (similar here!) || Jeggings: American Eagle Outfitters ||
Fringe bag: Marshalls (similar here) || Sunnies: aerie || Watch: c/o Fossil || Leather jacket: H&M ||
Shoes: Zara, via Poshmark (similar here)

I've had these Zara snakeskin slip-on sneakers on repeat ever since I found them on Poshmark...#sorrynotsorry; they're seriously perfect because they're so unique and cool, and at the same time insanely comfy--perfect for being on my feet all day at work!

And today I found the perfect shirt (also Zara, found on Poshmark), to go with it for a playful mix of patterns: buffalo check and snakeskin for the win!

Both are pieces I probably would have never thought to even buy myself had I not seen them on Poshmark!

I have to admit it, I'm addicted to Poshmark.  I love shopping, and I love the idea that I can sell the clothes I don't wear anymore, and sell them to a girl who would love to rock it for her own closet.  And the fact that it's super easy is an added perk!  ;)

Seriously, everything is done through the app, and because they take a small commission (either $2.95 for items listed under $15, or 20% of anything over $15), Poshmark takes care of the shipping (one of the perks from them taking commission; perfect considering how much it costs to ship things nowadays!), all you have to do is print out the label (and P.S. you can get boxes for FREE from the post office, either if you walk in, or you can order online and have them shipped to your house!).  Even better?  You can schedule pick ups from your house, so you don't even have to shlep to the post office to drop off any packages you're shipping out!  Perfect for my fellow busy bees!

All you need to do is download (for free!  Download here for iPhone, and here for Android), use code PNXBH to get a $10 credit towards your first purchase!

All set?  Round up everything in your closet...if you haven't worn it in forever, even though you convince yourself it might look nice in the future if you can just the right top or bottom to go with it--sell it!  Poshmark is a great way to spring clean your closet and earn some extra money (which you can either get direct deposited into your bank account, or get sent to you as a check)!  It's as easy as taking a picture of the item, writing a brief description, setting a price (that's right, you get to set your prices!), and listing.

There's so many awesome features to the app, that I can't cover them all, but you'll have so much fun playing around with buying and selling!

You can't do a shoot at a park and not swing on the swings, right??  haha :P

Have you downloaded Poshmark yet (remember, to get your $10 credit, used code PNXBH when you sign up!)?  :)

Leather Clad Ballerina

It's universally know that Mondays kinda suck, and when it's freezing outside (hello single digits), they suck even more.  So an all black ensemble seems appropriate for such a blah day, right?  Absolutely!  But, even though Mondays are blah, your monochromatic OOTD doesn't need to follow suit!  My favorite way to make an all black (or any color) outfit cool is to play around and mix textures; today I mixed leather (faux, as I'm a fashionista on a budget, haha), knits, and netting, with gold and snakeskin accents for some added interest.

And like I said, it's freezing over here (my car was reading like one degree, *sigh*), so how to mix up those textures?  Layer!  I paired my (faux) leather peplum tank (because I love to preach versatility in a wardrobe; make your clothes go the extra distance outside their made for seasons!), with a ballerina wrap sweater.  Not only does this mix knits and leather, but both pieces paired together give you a bangin' hourglass silhouette (*high fives*); between the sweater that cinches you in at the waist, and then the peplum flaring out from the same point you have created some killer curves whether you were born with them or not--easy peasy.

I've been after a veiled beanie for ages, and I finally found one the other day while I was shopping at H&M...needless to say I am a super duper fan of this classy meets cool accessory!

And how simple and perfect are these Gorjana earrings from my latest Rocksbox?!  These can be worn with pretty much any outfit; sign up for their months subscription box, and use code 'xoxoclassicallycait' to get your first month free!!

I absolutely love an all black outfit with pops of shiny gold; it's so simple, and yet edgy at the same time!  This ring set was also part of this month's Rocksbox, and I loved them so much that I bought them immediately after trying them on and falling in love with them!

And this watch?!  The perfect blend of classic and modern!  I love the mix of gold and silver, and then a clean leather band.

This little crossbody is one of the reasons I love thrifting; only $2, and it's classic style makes it a staple piece!

Totally got caught by my neighbors across the street when I was taking these pictures...haha.

Summer to Winter

Today's one of those "ehhh" days; it's still snowing on the East coast, but I didn't wake up to a "snow day, don't come into work" text (...the worst), which kinda made me feel blah, so I wasn't really trying to put any effort into my outfit.  Luckily, all the pieces I grabbed this morning kinda happened to go together (phew!).

I wore this super twirly cotton kimono, over the summer (see how I styled it in this post!)...that's right, this is from aerie's summer 2015 collection--it's a beach cover up.  What's great about pieces like this, is that you can wear them year 'round, depending whether you layer it over a sweater or a swimsuit!

If you're one of the lucky ducks escaping the cold and heading somewhere warm for winter break, a cotton kimono (like this one from Steve Madden) is the perfect addition to your travel wardrobe.  You can layer it over your sweater for some comfy chic airport style, and then once you've reached your destination, it doubles as a cute beach cover up!  Talk about versatility!

And because cotton kimonos are relatively nice and light, they don't take up a lot of space in your luggage!  Win.

Fancy Pants Snow Day

Nothing's better than waking up and finding out that you have a snow day!

I typically pick out my outfits the night before, and then when I woke up this morning to texts that work was cancelled.  Hallelujah!  I love being able to just sit in bed when I wake up, no rush to be anywhere.  However, I wanted to at least try and be somewhat productive, and to do that I had to change out of my PJs (aka my fave aerie joggers and one of Richie's tees, haha), so I swapped my sweats for something a little (a lot) cuter, but that would still be super comfy (it is a snow day after all, and I think comfiness is a snow day rule)--why let a super cute outfit go to waste?  So I sucked it up and braved the snow and get some cute pics!  It wasn't too bad...except when my tripod fell phone screen down into the snow...that's when I knew it was time to get back in the house and get back into my joggers, haha.

This combo of leggings and a fun sweater is the perfect outfit for pretty much anywhere: work, running errands, hanging out with friends, or in my case, bumming it in the house all day.

A girl can never have too many sunnies!  My collection is growing fast, and these super cute aerie heart shaped frames are one of my absolute favorites!  They have the classic tortoise shell frames, but with a fun heart shape.

I literally just got these fabulous snakeskin sneaks yesterday and was planning on wearing them out today...and then it snowed an insane amount early this morning, so no work, haha.  But what better time to break in new shoes, than on a snow day?!

Gold details are my favorite accessories to add a little bit of sparkle to any outfit without having to go overboard; a two piece ring set and my favorite Fossil watch (c/o) are more than enough to dress up my snow day outfit without being too flashy.  Simple gold accessories are classic and timeless, perfect for dressing up a sweater/jeans outfit!

Richie got me an Instax Mini for Christmas and decided to break it out for some snow day fun!
