Fitting Room Diaries: aerie Spring Collection

Umm, I'm completely dying over aerie's spring collection!  It's giving me a serious case of wanderlust; I don't have any vacations planned at the moment, but the bright colors and fun prints are making me want to book the first flight to somewhere tropical!

Here's some of my favorites from the new collection (links below)!

This matching gingham top and bottom set is seriously the most darling thing ever.  I love the retro vibes of the crop top and high waisted shorts; and the gingham is a major must have for a vintage summer!

This sailboat bra top and flare pants is another favorite look of mine with pieces from the collection. I can tell that my summer wardrobe is definitely going to be vintage inspired!

Have you checked out aerie's new spring collection yet?  :)

Graphic Sundays

I admit, that I have a tendency to be high maintenance (my friends can tell you that, dressing down does not include sweats in my book; jeggings and a cute pullover is pretty much as dressed down as I get); and I freely admit it.  When I travel, I like to have LOTS of options, because you never know when fashion inspiration is going to hit you!

One of my favorite ways to make a fashion statement in the winter is a graphic pullover; they do double duty: it's an extra layer to keep you warm, and at the same time, adds interest to your outfit!  The other day I was at the mall, because I had a gift card to Forever21 and I was ready to stock up on accessories.  But of course, going into Forever 21 to with list and sticking to it, is just as useless as going into Target for shampoo and only coming out with shampoo--it doesn't happen.

As I was walking around (you always have to do at least two circuits of Forever so you don't miss anything...pretty sure that's just the rule, haha), I spotted this little gem out of the corner of my eye and knew I needed it for my dress down days.

This Forever21 graphic awesomeness is perfect to make a statement, but still give off the laid back, cool girl vibes...AKA, my main goal on dress down days.

Front Row.  I feel like this pullover is perfect for the aspiring fashion blogger in me!

My favorite detail is the side zippers; I love how it gives the pullover more flair, and creates a peek-a-boo effect to dress up a regular pullover.

Looks like lazy Sundays just got a little chicer!  ;)

Winter Hippie

Winter is finally here, and all the stores are starting to put out their spring collections...hahaha.

I'm loving the current retro trend going around, especially the flare pant; but it's been pretty hard to find a pair that are affordable and figure flattering.  The moment I put on these aerie flare pants, I knew I had to have them!  But here's the catch, even though it's January, these pants are one of the many new pieces in the spring collection.  That's right, their spring collection; but, I've found a way around this, and was able to incorporate one of aerie's newest pieces into my winter wardrobe.  Boom, instant bang for my buck.

These flares are perfect because you can wear them in any season; they lightweight, so when it's cold, you can layer up without overheating (queue the faux fur vest!), and when it's warm they're not thick, so you'll stay cool.  Basically these pants are the best of both world--major versatility points.

I'm seriously loving the off white and blue combo with gold and leather accessories-- it's the epitome of winter!

This outfit is super comfy and stylist at the same time; it's also weather appropriate (like I said before, major versatility points!).  As if it couldn't get any better, I think this outfit is flattering for all body types.  I myself am no stick, so sometimes its hard to find things that fit properly and look nice at the same time (ugh, curvy girl problems...).  But, I'm telling you, these flares are amazing!  I love the high waist and wide leg; it helps hide my "problem areas", and flatters my figure, making me look nice and tall.

Do you have any favorite seasonal pieces that you've transitioned into other seasons?  :)

Style Inspo: Kendall Jenner + the Canadian Tux

I love trying to recreate celebrity looks with pieces I already own, because to me it means that you can still rock a killer OOTD without spending your whole paycheck...or maxing out your credit card (definitely don't do that, no matter how cute that celeb's shoes or bag is!).

One of my recent faves is Kendall Jenner (and check out my other recent celeb look alike OOTD: Gigi Hadid, here!).  Her street style is pretty laid back and simplistic and she always looks chic AF (high five girl!).  And for me that means that her style is easily attainable for a blogger on a budget (my wallet thanks you Miss Jenner).

This is one of the best ways to dress up the weekend, and still be comfortable: the Canadian tux.

The trick is not to be too matchy-matchy.  Mix up denim colors and textures; monochromatic is great...unless you match too much, and then you wind up looking like a blueberry (think Violet from Willy Wonka...yikes).

Otherwise, this outfit is super simple to recreate, and you probably already have all the pieces in your own closet (I did!).  My chambray pullover is already three years old!  It's a great staple piece to have in your closet because it's super versatile and can be dressed up or down.  And who doesn't own at least one pair of jeans?

Fringe for the Win

Anyone else get super excited when they find that one sales find that's almost too good to be true?  It's even better when it's one of those on trend pieces that you're dying to try but didn't want to splurge on, then poof, you manage to find it, still on trend AND at a fraction of the cost?

The clearance section is my fashion BFF.

If you take the time to search through the racks, it will definitely pay off.  Just going straight to your size doesn't always guarantee you a good sales find.  I go through all the sizes, because sometimes people will just throw stuff back, regardless of what size; I usually wear a large or extra large depending on the piece, and I've found my size thrown in with smalls and mediums sometimes!  So patience definitely pays off!

This AWESOME fringe top is my most recent clearance find, it was on super duper sale for only $5; that's right, FIVE BUCKS!!!  I wasn't even planning on going into the store, but I saw the sale signs out front, and just had to give it a quick peek (those big ol' sales signs are my weakness...lol).  Lo and behold, once I started looking through the racks, I found this suede fringe dream peeking out; and then when I looked at the little red price tag and saw five dollars, I knew it was coming home with me immediately!

I'm loving the whole fringe trend lately, and wanted to try the suede trend that's so popular right now, but I'm pretty picky with how certain fabrics flatter (or don't) my figure.  But the cut and shape (a relatively loose tank) of this tank (and the super cheap price...basically free! haha) was all I needed to add a little suede to my wardrobe.

I feel like a super chic, modern day Pocahontas (aka, one of my favorite Disney princesses!)!

Pom Poms + Circumstance

Don't you just love a good mail day?  I just scored these AWESOME pom pom flats from ASOS for next to nothing (on sale right now for $21!!!)!!

Even though these shoes are more trendy than classic, you can't say no to a great pair of shoes that are only $21.  Typically my rule for buying new shoes is, classic styles that are also great quality, is a splurge item, and I don't mind paying extra for.  But certain trendy items, that might not be on trend for more than a season or two (or maybe three), I'd rather not pay the big bucks for.  What I usually do is try and have some patience and wait for my favorite trendy pieces to go on sale before I buy them; which isn't hard to do considering many stores send their new items to sale after only a few weeks, which will save you the big bucks in the long run and you won't feel so guilty getting rid of them when the trend passes.

I'm totally into the pom pom craze right now!  They're such a fun detail, and depending on how they're styled, can also be super chic and stylish without being silly.

I've already gotten so many compliments on them on my first wear!

These are the perfect flats for a casual outfit like today's because they add some edginess and sophisticated whimsy to an otherwise plain outfit.
