Weekly Pin-spirations 4/29

Another week, another round up of my weekly pin-spirations (although truthfully, I could probably do this everyday!  LOL)

I've got a little bit of fashion inspiration and a little bit of foodie fare. Usually when I pin I start with one thing and after some time I wind up in a completely different spot!

I'm a sucker for boat shoes (I have about 5 pairs already and I'm not even a little bit sorry about it)!  They have a bunch of different colors, and I'm completely hooked on the coral ones!

I'm always the only one who gets noodles at hibachi. There's always a huge pile of fried rice for everyone else and then, off to the side is my little pile of noodles. And I don't even care because hibachi noodles are absolutely heavenly. And now that I've found this pin, teaching me how to make them, I'm much more eager to learn how to cook like an adult.

If I'm not craving hibachi, I'm most likely craving bruschetta. And I'll admit, I'm a bit of a bruschetta snob. I like when the toast is thick, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and the balsamic has soaked the bread.

Today's been a typical sick (insert sad face) day: home early from work, change into sweats, in bed with ginger ale, and scrolling through Instagram (check out my feed here) and Pinterest (and my feed here) when I'm not sleeping.  So I've rounded up my favorite Pins from today to share with y'all!

When I saw this Nasty Gal dress, I knew I needed it. I'm a major fan of the confetti-like polka dots (and the colorful pom poms are the icing on the cake!)!

When I finally move into an apartment (coming soon!) I just know that I'll need these DIY tumblers for my dream bar cart!  Simple, fun, and they look look pretty easy to accomplish!  

And I think I'll definitely have to give this a go with some mason jars as well!

I'm drooling over this dining room.  I love all the details, and the walls of books?!  It's like something out of my childhood Disney princess dreams.  It's exactly what my dream office would look like.

Style Inspo: Kate Middleton

Every girl wants to look like a princess; unfortunately most of us don't have the budget to do so (my wallet and I are pretty sad about it).  Enter, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge (and momma to the oh-so-adorable, Prince George).  Kate's style is actually attainable!  And *gasp*, like the rest of us, she wears things more than once!  She really is the people's princess.

I wish I could make a ponytail look so glamorous (but I have been getting pretty good at achieving some killer curls--check out my post, here, for the tutorial I use!)!  Her style is super effortless with a wardrobe full of classic pieces like: crisp button ups, skinny jeans, striped tops, tailored blazers, and simple wedges.

If I could have one person's wardrobe magically copied and pasted into my own, Kate Middleton is at the very tippy-top of my list at #1 (I really love blazers, and the color navy, and stripes, and...well you guys get the idea)!

And on a side note, has anyone else been inspired by the Duchess to want to rock a fascinator (I know I can't be the only one, lol)?  I've never been to any events that would require (or were fancy enough) to wear one, but if I ever do, I have plenty of inspiration!

P.S. I'm really hoping I get to wear one (...or five, because I'll have a hard time choosing just one!), one day.

Weekly Pin-spirations

No lie, I'm on Pinterest all the time...after Instagram it's probably my most used app.  I can't get enough (I have 73 boards and I'm not even sorry about it).  I think it's because I like making lists, and to me, Pinterest is essentially a bunch of lists, in different categories, with pictures.  It's a gold mine of inspiration and life hacks that you would never have thought of.

It's also like a giant wish list of things that you want in your closet right now, or things you want in the future.

When I was younger I always wanted a Polaroid camera (still kinda do...lol).  I first saw the Fujifilm Instax Mini cameras sometime last year and instantly made it to my wish list.  Seeing these cameras makes me want to get one with a ton of film and go on an adventure, like they seem to do in movies or music videos.

All I can say is, how freaking cute are these baby moccasins?!  While there's no baby plans in the immediate future, I just can't help gush over adorable baby things!  Does anyone else think that fashion is so much cuter in mini form?

This weekend I'm getting my hair done, so of course I've been doing some major research.  I'm looking to lighten my ombre, and make the color a little less reddish and more of a cooler blonde.  I'm super excited!  And there's nothing quite like the feeling after you've just gotten your hair done!  When I get my hair done I feel like a brand new person; it's a nice confidence boost.

I think I could wear this outfit everyday if I could.  First of all, I love stripes.  And paired with a cool pair of jeans and some Converse?  I'm sold. (And if you read this post, you know one of my latest fashion faves is boyfriend jeans!)

Ampersand & Arrow DIY

Every now and again I get "Pin-spired", but it's extremely rare that I actually make anything that I pin.  But this DIY project is so ridiculously easy (and cheap) that I just HAD to craft it!

You'll only need three things:

A canvas (the one I used was about 16x20")

A pencil

Flat top thumb tacks (I found some pretty gold ones at Dollar Tree.  They came in packs of 300, I used 2 1/2 packs)

Draw your design onto the canvas with pencil.  I chose this ampersand/arrow design.  I drew the "stick figure" first (a rough sketch), to get a feel of how big I wanted the design and to make sure I had enough room on the canvas.

After I sketched the "stick figure", I filled it out more, kind of like how you learned to make bubble letters way back in elementary school.  

Once you've got everything sketched out, time for the thumb tacks.  You just push them right into the canvas (overlapping them will keep them more stable and less likely to fall out or loosen).  To keep everything neat and somewhat uniform I put the tacks into the canvas in rows.  Depending on how big your canvas and design is will determine how long it takes to complete the project (and whether or not you run out of tacks, like I did).

Beware of pencil smudges!  If it does happen (like to me, lol), no biggie!  Nothing an eraser can't handle.

In total, the project took me about an hour (plus my fifteen minute trip back to the Dollar Tree because I ran out of tacks just before I was finished.  You'll probably want to get three boxes of the tacks to be safe).  And price wise I only spent $3! My sister already had a canvas I was able to use. If you don't have a spare lying around, craft stores like Michael's always have coupons (like 50% off one regular priced item) in the paper (that's the best time to stock up). 

This project is super easy and is a great way to add some quick decor to a room or even as a gift (hint, hint: holidays are just around the corner)!
