Style Inspo: Kate Middleton

Every girl wants to look like a princess; unfortunately most of us don't have the budget to do so (my wallet and I are pretty sad about it).  Enter, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge (and momma to the oh-so-adorable, Prince George).  Kate's style is actually attainable!  And *gasp*, like the rest of us, she wears things more than once!  She really is the people's princess.

I wish I could make a ponytail look so glamorous (but I have been getting pretty good at achieving some killer curls--check out my post, here, for the tutorial I use!)!  Her style is super effortless with a wardrobe full of classic pieces like: crisp button ups, skinny jeans, striped tops, tailored blazers, and simple wedges.

If I could have one person's wardrobe magically copied and pasted into my own, Kate Middleton is at the very tippy-top of my list at #1 (I really love blazers, and the color navy, and stripes, and...well you guys get the idea)!

And on a side note, has anyone else been inspired by the Duchess to want to rock a fascinator (I know I can't be the only one, lol)?  I've never been to any events that would require (or were fancy enough) to wear one, but if I ever do, I have plenty of inspiration!

P.S. I'm really hoping I get to wear one (...or five, because I'll have a hard time choosing just one!), one day.

Weekend Find: Forever 21 Palm Frond skirt

Only $23!!

This Forever21 graphic palm frond skirt is perfect for summer.  Anything to do with palm trees screams summer to me.  And if you saw my Easter Eyelet post (check it out here) then you know I'm trying to ease myself into wearing more white pieces to brighten up my wardrobe (I own a lot of black, grey and blue...).

Tonight I paired it with a white tunic top and white Sperry's (and imagine how awesome it would look with a tan!) for some birthday celebrations with friends, so it's casual, but still fun for a night out!

What do you guys think? :)

Weekly Pin-spirations

No lie, I'm on Pinterest all the time...after Instagram it's probably my most used app.  I can't get enough (I have 73 boards and I'm not even sorry about it).  I think it's because I like making lists, and to me, Pinterest is essentially a bunch of lists, in different categories, with pictures.  It's a gold mine of inspiration and life hacks that you would never have thought of.

It's also like a giant wish list of things that you want in your closet right now, or things you want in the future.

Here are four of my favorite pins from this week (...maybe more like this day...lol):

When I was younger I always wanted a Polaroid camera (still kinda do...lol).  I first saw the Fujifilm Instax Mini cameras sometime last year and instantly made it to my wish list.  Seeing these cameras makes me want to get one with a ton of film and go on an adventure, like they seem to do in movies or music videos.

All I can say is, how freaking cute are these baby moccasins?!  While there's no baby plans in the immediate future, I just can't help gush over adorable baby things!  Does anyone else think that fashion is so much cuter in mini form?

This weekend I'm getting my hair done, so of course I've been doing some major research.  I'm looking to lighten my ombre, and make the color a little less reddish and more of a cooler blonde.  I'm super excited!  And there's nothing quite like the feeling after you've just gotten your hair done!  When I get my hair done I feel like a brand new person; it's a nice confidence boost.

I think I could wear this outfit everyday if I could.  First of all, I love stripes.  And paired with a cool pair of jeans and some Converse?  I'm sold. (And if you read this post, you know one of my latest fashion faves is boyfriend jeans!)

What are some of your favorite pins this week? :)

Old Navy Sale

Old Navy is having a great sale right now and  it's the perfect opportunity to pick up some pieces for spring and summer!  Pretty much any time they have a sale I pick up at least two or three great pieces, and save a ton while adding a cool skirt or top to my wardrobe.

This time around I picked up three new pieces to add to my spring lineup!

(Technically not a sale find, like my other two picks, but I just had to get this skirt!  Plus it's not breaking the bank at only $38)
The first thing that came to mind was to pair this with one of my chambray tops!
I love that the polka dots have more of a watercolor effect to them rather than uniform, perfectly round dots; it makes the dress feel more fun and relaxed.  Perfect for warmer weather!
Definitely a staple piece that can be worn year round!  Nothing's better than a nice, crisp white shirt paired with jeans and some cool shoes.

They also have basic tops (at only $5, grab them in every color!), graphic tees, work out gear at really great prices.  Run, don't walk to your nearest Old Navy (or visit them online) to score some amazing deals!

Use code 'JACKPOT' for an extra 20% off clearance items, and you get 35% off your order (no code needed), today only! *online only*

Anyone else #treatyoself to the Old Navy sales today?

Four Eyes

One of my recent accessories are my glasses.  I've had glasses for a while now (about 7 years or so), but when I went for an eye exam recently my prescription went up...  So now I've got to get new lenses.  But I like changing things up (nail color, iPhone cases, dying my hair...you get the hint), so I'm in the market for new frames as well.  The ones I have now are tortoise with gold--classic, with a twist.  This time around I'm looking for something that makes more of a statement (I think it's the blogger in me, lol).  I want something bright, fun, and not just your standard, run-of-the-mill glasses.

I've compiled a list of some of my favorite frames (in order) from Glasses.com and Warby Parker, to help me narrow down my choices.

These frames are my number one pick!  I'm in love with the glitter, and they definitely stand out.  The pink ones are the fun, bold look I'm going for!  But the gold reminds me of champagne and totally goes with everything (gold is a neutral in my book, and glitter too!).

Colored tortoise?  Yes please!  These are another favorite of mine!  I was actually able to try these frames on at the Warby Parker store (see this post!) and loved the color and shape of these frames on my face!
Warby Parker has the new Basso collection, and it's so cool because it takes classic looks and gives them a unique twist.  Like these Winston frames with traditional tortoise, but with gold accents outlining the frames.  They remind me on the frames I have now, traditional and cool.  Definitely make the list!

The emerald green is still classic, but as a nice twist.  Plus, the rounder frames are a change from the more rectangular shape of the frames I have now.

These frames don't stand out, but I just love tortoise anything!

Can a girl have too much pink?  Absolutely not!  These frames are just the right pop of pink for any outfit.  Plus, I'm a fan of the slight cat-eye shape of these ones.

What are your favorite picks?

Easter Eyelet

In less than a week I'll be 24 (on Thursday the 9th to be exact), and for a while now, holidays like Easter aren't really celebrated with as much gusto as when I was younger (anyone else miss Easter baskets and egg hunts?); but I still like getting dressed up for Easter dinner with my family (it's now basically a second Thanksgiving, and I'm totally okay to celebrate any holiday by stuffing my face!).

This year I went for something simple and easy.  A while back I shared a post about the Old Navy eyelet dress that I had just got for spring/summer.  I put it on for the first time today, and I was in love as soon as I put the dress on!  It fits like a dream, and it's lined so it's not see-through.

If you haven't seen it or purchased one yet, I highly recommend this dress!  And right now it's on sale at Old Navy for $35 (plus, today and tomorrow you can get an extra 20% off your order when you order online!).  It's nice and light, but isn't flimsy.  And, for tall girls like me (I'm 5'7"), it's not too short at all--perfect length!

Dress: Old Navy
Jacket: BCBGeneration from Marshalls
Earrings: old from Forever21 (slightly similar here)
Belt: thrifted Ralph Lauren
Shoes: 2 months ago from Marshalls
Necklaces: old sale find from J.Crew (slightly similar here)

I mention in this weekend recap post, the tutorial I used to wand my hair, and it's been a really big help!  I used to end up with these weird, really tight curls that make me look like Shirley Temple (I don't know how I even did it, but it was horrid lol).  Now when I curl my hair it looks a million times better, thanks to my friend Sam.  And the best part is that she shows you how to do it in like 10 minutes!  So if I can learn how to curl my hair with this tutorial, every one of you can too!  :)

Happy Easter!  And happy curling!  :*

Trends I Love: Blush

After seeing (and then obsessing over and buying) this Bebe moto jacket from Marshalls (check out my original post here), I have been seriously digging blush-colored everything!  It's spring's perfect neutral and looks great paired with everything!
Similar jacket (here)

I put together some blush-colored picks I've found (plus my DIY mani from earlier in the week!):

Ciaté Mini Paint Pot nail polish (mix and match 3 for $18!  They have a bunch of colors and "effects"--glitter, studs, etc.)

I love this trench because you could wear it casually with a cool graphic tee and some jeans, or dressed up for a night out with friends!

ASOS Sleeved Draped-back Midi dress (on sale now for only $28!)
The shape is super flattering (and there's even a little open back action!) and is perfect for any spring event!

J. Crew does it again.  This skirt is super cool, and looks great just how J. Crew styled it!

Jersey blazers are like dressy sweatshirts.  They're super comfortable but you still look pulled together, which makes it the perfect piece for literally any outfit.

Pointy flats and jewels?  Check and check.

Envelope clutches are like the basic accessory that every girl should have because it's simple and chic and goes with everything.

Kate Spade Cat Eye sunglasses.  Love the color and especially the style!  Very Pink Ladies!  ;)

What do you guys think of blush for spring?
