Christmas Eve Eve

Merry Christmas Eve Eve guys!

I know I've been M.I.A. for a while now, but juggling two jobs now is taking up all of my time, and has left extremely little time for blogging (although I've been faithfully Insta-blogging!).  But, I just had to share today's OOTD; it's so simple and comfy, I was in love as soon as I put it on!

I was only at one job today, and had a TON of running around to do afterwards, so this outfit totally fit the bill.  It was work appropriate, comfortable, and always a must: stylish.

Nobody loves accessories on the cheap more than me!  These awesome shades that look just like Dior?  Only $2 (plus $1 shipping) from the Wish app (a must download if you love stocking up on accessories without breaking the bank!).  You can't beat $3 sunnies!!  I ordered a pair for my mom and then ordered another for myself in a different color, #sorrynotsorry.

And this golden beauty I'm wearing around my neck?  Part of the two for $10 deal at Charlotte Russe; how could you go wrong?!  It's times like this that I stock up on accessories, because you never know when you'll need a good statement necklace (hint, hint, they also make an awesome last minute prezzie!).

Blazer: Old Navy || Turtleneck: Aerie || Ripped Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters || Metallic Oxfords: J. Crew, old purchase (similar here, here, and here) || Sunnies: Wish app (only $3!!!) || Watch: c/o Fossil || Drawstring tassel bag: American Eagle Outfitters || Necklace: Charlotte Russe

Autumn Shorts + WIWW

This weather has been really funky lately, like Mother Nature's confused whether it's finally fall, or if summer should linger a little longer; the mornings are cool and crisp, but then by the afternoon it shoots up to seventy degrees (ugh!), and then early evening the weather cools down again.  This makes getting dressed a bit of a pain, because I never know what the weather's going to be like.

I love the whole shorts over tights look, it's the perfect solution to the inconsistent weather that is the beginning of fall; you're still wearing shorts, so you won't be too hot, but the tights are great  for the chill early and later in the day!

Confession: I can't tie a proper bow like this for the life of me.  My sister tied this for me, lol.

I'm never without my gold Fossil watch, and I've been wearing it every day since it arrived in the mail!

...and this tassel saddle bag is quickly becoming a staple.  Best ten bucks I've spent at a vintage store. Ever.

OTK boots are everything for fall.  If you don't already own a pair, do yourself a favor and invest in a good pair--totally worth it.  They're sleek and sexy, you can really add some oomph to any outfit just by sliding a pair of these bad boys on!

Menswear meets sleek and chic is such a fun look to wear; it's comfortable, easy for running around, and it's such a fashionable look.  It's a great way to turn that plain while button up into something other than boring, typical office wear.

Vest: Marshalls (similar here, here, here + here) || White Pullover: old Old Navy purchase (similar here + here) || Sunnies: Paper Doll Vintage Boutique (similar here, here, here + here) || Shorts: Old Navy (on sale, under $10!!!) || OTK Boots: old, Rock 'n' Republic (similar here, here, here + here) || Nail Polish: Essie 'tuck it in my tux' + 'bobbing for baubles' || Watch: c/o Fossil || Saddlebag: Paper Doll Vintage Boutique (similar here)

Han Solo + WIWW

Fall is by far my favorite season; I love the changing of the leave, the cool temps, sweaters, riding boots, and HALLOWEEN!

I bought this Vince Camuto vest last fall, and I LOVE it!  The quilted detail and the gold and suede give the vest an equestrian feel...which happens to go great with these riding leggings and boots.  I've only ridden a full grown horse once in my life, but I love the sleek, elegant look of equestrian style pieces (I think the leggings with the suede patches on the inner thigh make my legs look thinner, a big ol' plus in my books!).

Basically, I love everything about the equestrian inspired look (that old-world, elegance makes my inner history nerd swoon).

Don't mind the hair change, lol. My hair doesn't take kindly to the rain, so it had to go up into a big ol' bun!

These Nine West boots are an oldie, but goodie (a Christmas present from my mom a few years ago); they're my number one fall staple.  As soon as the temperature drops, I wear them almost every day until the temperatures go back up again.

A good pair of riding boots are definitely a great investment piece because you can wear them everyday of fall and even winter!  They give your fall outfits a little more of a polished feel.

I was looking through the pictures today and found this gem. It was raining this morning when we took this and a gust of rain hit me right in the face, I swear I wasn't having a tantrum or anything, haha!

So if you needed a good laugh today, here's a blooper that I just had to share with you guys because it was waaaaay to funny to keep hidden in my phone.  I've been showing it to all my friends because frankly, I'm hilarious, haha.

Channeling Rosie the Riveter + WIWW

Since I bought my eyelet dress back in April (check it out here + here), I've been on an Old Navy kick; when people ask me where I got something I'm wearing the answer is usually, Old Navy.  They've really stepped up their fashion game and I've been loving it all.  Just last week I picked up another one of their jumpsuits (because a girl can never have too many; check out my other, light wash one here!), and it's awesome!

As a fan of vintage-inspired clothing (and history major), I feel like I'm channeling the very famous, Rosie the Riveter, in this jumpsuit; and I LOVE IT!

First of all, jumpsuits are great because you don't have to think at all when getting dressed in the morning; pull on one piece of clothing (maybe throw on a layer if you need, or an accessory or two) and you're done (which is even better for going on trips, so you can at least say you tried to pack lightly-- I'm totally guilty of packing my whole closet whenever I go away-- lol)!

How fun and easy is it to grab and go with a jumpsuit that just needs a few sparkly accessories?  So great for days when you're tight on time in the morning.

I haven't worn these super cute record earrings since I bought them at Graceland (what an amazing trip that was!), but I found them among my other earrings and knew that they'd go perfect with my retro-modern look.  Seriously, little gold Elvis records?  So cute!!!

Swan Crop Top on Repeat + WIWW

Remember this swan crop top (worn a few WIWW Link Ups ago, here)?  Last time I styled it, I had worn a high waisted skirt, so it was appropriate for work; but, pants is a different story, because, number one, I don't own any high waisted pants that work with this top.  Sooooo, in order to make this work appropriate and still wear pants, there was only one solution: layer it with another top!  Layering crop tops is the perfect way to stretch that summer wardrobe into fall and winter (I'm all about making wardrobe pieces go the distance)!  I love the way this swan print crop top looks layered with a long white button up layered underneath.  Completely work appropriate, but still fun and interesting.

I work at a library here in my town and its a lot of running around, so I have to be careful about how I plan out my outfits.  It may be hot and humid outside, but inside the AC is blasting.  But then running around I heat up pretty quickly--there's a lot to take into account temperature-wise at my job, lol.  So layering these two lightweight shirts is perfect for work because it's enough to keep me from freezing all day, but not thick and heavy enough that I'm sweating to death (because that's the worst pretty much anytime).

And you guys already know about my awesome black cat eye sunnies that I'm pretty much obsessed with this summer (from Paper Doll Vintage Boutique, which I talked about here)!  The vintage shape makes them so much more interesting that regular boring plain black frames.  And it's especially important when you're wearing a predominately black outfit (which happens to be a huge chunk of my closet...lol); they're able to stand out, despite being the same color as the rest of my outfit because of their uniqueness.

Druzy Stone necklaces c/o August Jewelry Chicago
I recently teamed up with Angel, at August Jewelry Chicago, to share some of her favorite summer pieces with you guys, and I'm in love!  To me they just scream: summer!  And summer ain't over just yet!  Her pieces are fun and playful, and all around great to wear.  I got so many compliments when I wore them to a party over the weekend.  My favorite thing about Angel's jewelry is that it's so versatile; you can wear each piece alone, or layer them up to make a real statement!

These druzy stones are the main event, and they add a bright pop of color to my outfit; and the delicate gold detailing (the thin gold chain and the gold encircling the druzy stones) kicks it up a notch, making them extra special, and keeps the necklaces looking light and pretty.  Plus, they layer perfectly with the necklace that Richie got for my birthday (which I  wear all the time, and it has our initials, with a little heart in the middle)!

Initials necklace: Bip and Bop
One of my favorite ways to accessorize during the summer is to layer dainty necklaces, just like these ones!  They're super lightweight, but can add a lot of sparkle and impact to any outfit.  I feel like being able to layer multiple pieces together just looks cool; it's effortlessly laid back and boho--perfect for summertime.  You can bet that these bad boys will be making several appearances in future outfits.  :D

Head over  to instagram to check out her pieces at @augustjewelrychicago, and make sure to snag your own druzy necklaces before they're all gone!  (You can order through: augustjewelrychicago@gmail.com).

Grown Up Barbie Dress + WIWW Link Up

Guys, I'm gushing over my new dress from eShakti.  I've done a few collaborations with them in the past (check 'em out here & here).  The cut, the colors, the shape!  I'm loving it all!  It's the perfect dress for summer.  Depending on the occasion and the accessories you can dress this up or down.
Colorblock Stripe poplin dress
My sister calls this dress the "Barbie dress" (I think it reminds her of retro Barbie, and I'm totally fine with that!) and I think it's gonna stick. But it's not typical Barbie, it's grown up, sophisticated but still super fun Barbie.

I feel great in this dress; it's easy to wear and it's super flattering on my figure!

I love the big, bold stripe pattern for summer (and it looks great with my early summer tan!).

I'm beyond in love with these retro sunnies I recently picked up at one of my favorite local vintage shops, Paper Doll Vintage Boutique (if you're ever on Long Island and love all things vintage and retro, definitely, check them out!  If you can't make it out to the Island, check out their Etsy page, here).

I love layering my Bip and Bop initials necklace that Richie got me for my birthday a few months ago. It's delicate and the perfect shade of gold (and rose gold!) to layer with pretty much anything (which is great because I never take this necklace off).

Does anyone else love mixing their lipsticks to make new shades?  This MAC 'Fusion Pink' with this NYX 'Shocking Pink' layered on top makes the perfect shade of Barbie pink without being too over-the-top or babyish.

One of my favorite things about this dress?  It has pockets!  I repeat, it has pockets!!!  eShakti knows how important pockets in a dress are to a girl (seriously, how do people wear dresses without pockets?!).

You can shop my look (and similar pieces) here!
P.S.: Blogger Bloopers!!!

I always love looking through all the pics my sister takes for my blog posts and seeing the blooper shots. Pretty much all of them are me mid-conversation, looking super confused, lol.

WIWW Link Up: Swan Princess

Last weekend I finally had enough money to do a little shopping after paying all my bills (#brokegirlproblems).  And it must have been fate because everywhere was having sales!!  I didn't pay full price for anything and left the mall with some pretty full bags without spending my last dollar (does anyone else count this as an accomplishment?).

One of my finds was in Aeropostale (where I haven't been in probably ten years!). I was super surprised to find quite a few things I liked!  One of the shirts I purchased was a swan print crop tee that was on sale for $4.  That's right, four bucks guys!

Did you guys have any super sale finds this week?  :)

WIWW Link Up: Joggers, Leather + Stripes

Don't you love it when you find things in your closet that you forgot about?  And then you find a new way to wear it so you can put it to use again?

To save space in my closet, I hang up a couple of spaghetti strap shirts and tanks on one hanger.  So the other day when I was going through my closet to plan my outfits for the week, I re-discovered a faux-leather peplum tank I had gotten a while back.  I used to wear it to go out with friends on the weekends, but it's been a while since we've done that, so I had forgotten completely about the shirt.  Plus, I thought, is leather really appropriate for work?  But when I spotted my striped blazer (an awesome hand-me-down from my mom), I was like, "this could totally work"!  Needlessly to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I paired them both with my joggers and some bright D'Orsay flats.

The joggers tone down  the leather and makes it much more casual for the daytime, while the blazer makes the outfit office appropriate. Plus, the bright flats add a great pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic outfit.

And of course, you can't go wrong with the Ariana Grande half-up, half-down pony!

What do your guys think about daytime leather for work?  :)

WIWW Link-Up: Safari Meets City Girl

The last couple of days have been pretty icky with all the rain, and today it was just plain chilly. Isn't it almost summer?  Shouldn't it be sunny and warm?

Since it was colder than it's been lately, I decided to layer up.  It seems like a lot of times I'll go into work dressed for one type of weather, and then when I leave, the weather is changed completely!

Yesterday I picked up this safari shirt from Banana Republic (on sale, right meow!).  I didn't plan on buying anything at the mall, but when I saw this shirt (on sale, 40% off!) I just knew it would be an awesome staple piece (gotta give my chambray a break sometime, right?) and I knew I could style it so many different ways.

I don't know why, but whenever I buy something, I feel the need to wear it right away.  It's the same feeling I get when I order something online, and then the impatience that follows until whatever I ordered comes in the mail.  So I decided pair it with another new staple that I just added to my wardrobe.
I don't dress too fancy for work because I work at a library, and I'm constantly running around, shelving books, cleaning up, etc; but I still like dressing up instead of going into work in jeans, a tee and sneakers.  Most of the time I'm dressing up a cute pair of pants simply because it's more practical.  But every once in a while I'll break out a skirt or a dress that I really love.

I just bought this J. Crew scallop dress during the Memorial Day weekend sales for an engagement party that Richie and I will be attending later in the month.  But I love the color and shape (um, the scallops?  So cute!) so much that I wanted to wear it before the party.

I love layering statement necklaces with more dainty ones.  It's not so overwhelming or heavy, which is great for the summertime (heat+anything heavy around your neck= straight up misery).

*Get my sweetheart necklace, here, at BipAndBop, an awesome Etsy shop!*

And no outfit is complete without a little arm candy, am I right?  A "chunky" watch and bracelet is just enough of a statement without filling up your whole arm with bracelets (which is a big ol' pain in the butt if you work at a library)!
